Description The Samoyed is a compact dog that is also muscular. They have a silver tipped coat of white, biscuit, yellow or cream. Their tail is curled and rolled over their back. | ||
Size Male Samoyeds are 21-23 inches tall and weigh 45-65 lbs. Females are 19-21 inches tall and weigh 35-50 lbs.. | ||
Coat The coat of the Samoyed is thick and harsh, not wavy. They have a thick, soft undercoat, which protects it against the cold weather. | ||
Color The standard colors of the Samoyed are biscuit, cream, white, and white & Biscuit. | ||
Temperament Samoyeds are gentle dogs. They are peaceable and dignified. Very devoted, easy going, friendly, and playful. | ||
Care The double coat of the Samoyed needs extensive grooming and brushing. | ||
Exercise This breed of dog needs regular exercise in the form of daily walks or playtime in an open area. Do not over exercise in warm weather as they can overheat. | ||
Shedding They are seasonal heavy shedders. | ||
Allergies Samoyed can be prone to skin allergies. | ||
Life Expectancy A well cared for Samoyed can live 12-15 years. | ||
Health Samoyed are prone to hip dysplasia and diabetes. | ||
